The Course
 
An introduction to European art in the 17th century. Examples of painting, sculpture, and some architecture produced in Europe between approximately 1590 and 1700 will be examined.

Student Responsibilities
 
- Active class participation, which includes being prepared for each class, and taking part in discussion.
 - Three Reports presented in class with web-based images, then handed in
- Each report should be approximately 8 to 10 pages in length. Select one or a group of images by the artist you have picked. The aim and purpose of your report is provide information, analysis, explanation, clarification that goes beyond whatever Harris may say in the textbook. Research should be conducted using books and articles in the library as well as those available online. Use footnotes to acknowledge the sources of your information. Provide a bibliography listing books and articles used, as well as Internet sources accessed
 
 
  
Grading
 
- Class participation = 10%
 - First Report = 30%
 - Second Report = 30%
 - Research Paper = 30%
