    An examination of selected topics in the History of Art
    Seminar Theme 2009: Dressing the Body: Textiles, Clothing
    and Fashion in Art through the Ages

Student Responsibilities

  • Four Seminar Reports
    • TWO Full Reports (7-10 pages)
      • one in Part I (A)
      • one in Part II (B)
    • ONE Short Report (5-7 pages) in Part III (C)
    • ONE Summary Report (3-5 pages) in Part IV (D)
    Each report will take the form of an illustrated paper which will be presented in the seminar together with a PowerPoint presentation of the illustrations. Provide three additional copies of your paper. For each report you must also provide a list of sources consulted. The text of each report should include:
    • introduction to the topic selected
    • overview of the various issues and questions surrounding it
    • analysis and discussion
    • summary of points and observations
    • questions for discussion in the seminar
    • illustrations
  • Active Participation in Seminar Discussion

Grading

  • Full Report (inclusive of essay, presentation, discussion) = 30%
  • Short Report (inclusive of essay, presentation, discussion) = 25%
  • Summary Report (inclusive of essay, presentation, discussion) = 10%
  • Participation (preparedness, contribution to seminar) = 5%
  • Fashionableness (dressing the part) = extra credit!
