The Seminar
    An examination of selected topics in the History of Art. Seminar Theme for 2010:

    Gardens as Mythic, Spiritual, and Sexual Spaces
    in the Landscape and in Art, Worldwide, over Time

Student Responsibilities

  1. Active Participation in Seminar Discussion
  2. Four Seminar Papers: 2 in Part A, and 2 in Part B (each the equivalent of approximately 10 pages). Each seminar paper will take the form of an online webpage posted on your own website (using the new Google Sites) and presented in the seminar. For each paper, you must also provide a list of sources (printed books and articles, plus links to online articles, essays, and other resources). The text of each seminar paper should be in essay form and include:
    • overview of the topic selected
    • analysis and discussion
    • selection of points for discussion in the seminar
    • High–quality, screen–size, illustrations (on a separate webpage)

Grading

  • Each Seminar Paper (inclusive of essay, presentation, and discussion) = 20%
  • Participation (preparedness, contribution to discussion) = 20%
