Student Responsibilities

  • Active class participation, which includes being prepared for each class, and taking part in discussion.
  • Read all the assignments before class meets, as indicated on the schedule
  • Attend all class meetings
  • Takes notes in class and make notes while reading the textbook and other assignments

Exams

  • Three, non-cumulative, take-home exams (due March 6, April 3, and May 1)

    First Take-Home Exam

    • Select TWO topics from the list provided
    • Research answers using Stokstad, class notes, and any extra readings
    • Compose TWO essays in each of which you compare and contrast the items selected and discuss your observations in terms of the periods and styles represented
    • This is a TWO-HOUR EXAM. Spend no more than ONE HOUR on each essay
    • This is an OPEN-BOOK EXAM

Grading

  • First Exam = 30%
  • Second Exam = 30%
  • Third Exam = 30%
  • Attendance and Participation = 10%
