Student Responsibilities
 
- Active class participation, which includes being prepared for each class, and taking part in discussion.
 - Read all the assignments before class meets, as indicated on the schedule
 - Attend all class meetings
 - Takes notes in class and make notes while reading the textbook and other assignments
  
Exams
 
- Three, non-cumulative, take-home exams (due March 6, April 3, and May 1)
First Take-Home Exam
- Select TWO topics from the list provided
 - Research answers using Stokstad, class notes, and any extra readings
 - Compose TWO essays in each of which you compare and contrast the items selected and discuss your observations in terms of the periods and styles represented
 - This is a TWO-HOUR EXAM. Spend no more than ONE HOUR on each essay
 - This is an OPEN-BOOK EXAM
  
   
Grading
 
- First Exam = 30%
 - Second Exam = 30%
 - Third Exam = 30%
 - Attendance and Participation = 10%
