REQUIREMENTS
Required Reading
- The reading for the course is drawn mostly from my book manuscripts The Visual Experience of Art and The Eye and Art: An Introduction to Vision and Perception in the History of European Visual Culture. Neither book is yet published, but I am making some of their contents available to you in a series of PDF files. These must be downloaded from the reading webpage using Adobe Acrobat Reader. A name and password is necessary for access (see my email to you).

Required Materials
REPORT and PRESENTATION
- REPORT - due September 29
Select an image. Analyze and discuss in terms of seeing, looking, impressions, associations, meaning, and composition
- PRESENTATION - due December 1 or December 8
Address questions of vision and visuality in an area of interest. Analyze and discuss in terms of the material and approaches used in this course
GRADING
- Attendance and Participation = 20%
- Report = 40%
- Presentation = 40%

ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is required at all class meetings, scheduled events, and field trips listed in the syllabus. Attendance will be used to determine the final grade. If you cannot attend a class meeting, scheduled event, and field trip, I expect to be informed in advance.
